8TH BIENNIAL OF PAINTING

The 8th Biennial of Painting, an event of national importance organized by the Croatian Society of Fine Artists (HDLU), will be held at the Klovićevi dvori Gallery in Zagreb from 28 April to 21 June 2026.

After the previous presentation in Varaždin, the Biennial in Zagreb will provide an overview of current Croatian painting production, bringing together artists of different generations and poetics. Due to the renovation of the Meštrović Pavilion, this year’s edition was developed in collaboration with numerous partner institutions and is being realized as the most comprehensive to date.

The Biennial will also present the international exhibition Beyond Boundaries: Perspectives on Contemporary Painting from Graz, according to the concept of curator Luisa Kloos. After the Zagreb stage, the 8th Biennial of Painting will continue in 2026 in Poreč, Vukovar and Zadar.
