When culture moves a city, no one stays put!

Klovićevi Dvori Gallery is contributing to Zagreb Museum Weekend!

MUV is a new cultural event for all generations. From 4 to 7 September, the whole of Zagreb will become a vast cultural stage, as the city’s museums open their doors with numerous programmes and free admission for everyone!

The Klovićevi Dvori Gallery has joined the Zagreb Museum Weekend with the exhibition Restek’s Zagreb Walks – A Selection from the Donation of Josip Restek on the Occasion of the 110th Anniversary of His Birth and the play The Magical Tour of Giulio Clovio. The exhibition will be open from 4 to 7 September, 10am to 8pm, while The Magical Tour of Giulio Clovio will be performed on Sunday, 7 September 2025, at 12 noon and 2pm.

1-Exhibiton Restek’s Zagreb Walks – A Selection from the Donation of Josip Restek on the Occasion of the 110th Anniversary of His Birth
4 – 7 September 2025, 10 am – 8 pm

The collection of artworks by the painter, graphic artist and restorer Josip Restek includes 410 works of art – drawings, watercolors, individual graphic sheets, graphic portfolios and oils. The collection was donated to the City of Zagreb in 2006 by the artist’s widow, Mrs. Blanka Restek, and has been kept at the Klovićevi dvori Gallery ever since. Josip Restek was born on March 7, 1915, in Volavje near Jastrebarsko, and on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of his birth, we are presenting a selection of prints from the aforementioned donation. Josip Restek dedicated three graphic art  portfolios to our capital city Zagreb – portfolio from 1949 containing eight lithographic sheets, portfolio from 1965 containing eight colored woodcuts and portfolio from 1986 containing eight linocuts, which you can view in chronological order at this exhibition. The graphics from the 1965 portfolio were printed by students of the School of Applied Arts and Design in Zagreb, and 212 copies of each sheet were printed.

2-The Magical Tour of Giulio Clovio
Sunday, 7 September 2025, times: 12:00–13:00 and 14:00–15:00

In the play ”The Magical Tour of Giulio Clovio”, the concept of a museum tour is reimagined to introduce children to the basics of visual art in a unique, enchanting way—while also acquainting them with the works of world-renowned artists. At the heart of the performance is its ever-present host: the kind but eccentric spirit of Renaissance painter Giulio Clovio, who doesn’t quite see eye to eye with the actors/curators on the proper rules of behaviour in his home—the Gallery. Through playful dialogue and musical interludes, young visitors are gently introduced to the fundamentals of visual art, illustrated through some of the most famous works by both Croatian and international artists—masterpieces that have found a home within the very walls of Klovićevi Dvori.

Directed by: Arija Rizvić
Actors: Damian Humski, Ema Šunde, Laura Čerina, Denis Bosak
