1. PAINTING WORKSHOP – ROSETTA

April 20th

11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m

TASK: Show and explain the process of making a rosette (an architectural element of decoration) with ink and watercolors according to the original artwork seen at the exhibition. We can use Botteri’s work as a template for making stained glass for our next workshops.

2. and 3. STAINED GLASS MANUFACTURING WORKSHOP

April 27th and May 4th

11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m

TASK: Making a windowpane glazed with stained glass that would cheer us up in every way and give us hope for every new bright day.

4. GRAPHIC WORKSHOP ACCOMPANYING THE EXHIBITION 9th CROATIAN PRINTS TRIENNIAL

May 11th

11  a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

At the workshop, participants will learn about different types of birds of paradise through detailed encyclopedic illustrations that will serve as references.

TASK: We will learn about the graphic technique – dry needle. After the sketch with markers, we will transfer the drawing in a mirror image using indigo paper, and then draw our bird on the graphic matrix with graphic needles in a detailed “filigree” raster. We will print graphics individually on a special graphic press, and then learn how to sign graphics.

Guest artist: Lora Elezović, mag.edu.art.

5. STEAM WORKSHOP on the occasion of International Museum Day

May 18th

11 a.m. – 13 p.m. (the workshop duration will be 2 hours!)

Every year we celebrate the International Museum Day on May 18th , and the Educational Museum Action (EMA) has chosen the theme: „Museums and STEAM?!“. Our goal is to show that the humanities and social sciences are not separate from the natural and technological sciences, but form a comprehensive whole. The exhibition of the 9th Croatian Prints Triennial, organized by the Department of Prints and Drawings of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Art, presents graphic artists who realize their creative thinking in both traditional and contemporary graphic techniques, applying alternative possibilities of the graphic process in contemporary artistic practices: the use of digital matrices and new digital technologies.

TASK: Inspired by works from the book „Encyclopedia of Monsters“ by Stanislav Marijanović, we will create our own fictional creatures. Using a computer and 3D design program, the drawings will be transformed into 3D objects. We will place the created objects in the virtual space of the Gallery, creating a space where reality and imagination intertwine. Expect VR (virtual reality) glasses!

Guest artist: Antonio Kutleša, mag.edu.art.

6. COLLAGE WORKSHOP

May 25th

11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

TASK: On a large piece of cardboard, we will make a collage of an 11th century Chancel Screen of St Nediljica. The Chancel Screen was also the inspiration for Botteri’s painting of the same name. First, we will draw characters and ornaments on natron paper, color them and stick them on a large cardboard box.

7. COLLOGRAPHY WORKSHOP ACCOMPANYING THE EXHIBITION 9th CROATIAN PRINTS TRIENNIAL

June 8th

11  a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

TASK: Making graphics using collography and cardboard painting techniques. The procedure will be based on the creation of a matrix from cardboard, and printing graphics on a graphic press, using the gravure printing technique. The goal of the workshop is to perceive, express, determine the value and learn about the relationship between static and dynamic surfaces, positive and negative space of a graphic sheet, and the expressive possibilities of graphic techniques.

Guest artist: Vida Meić, mag.edu.art.

8. GRAPHIC WORKSHOP ACCOMPANYING THE EXHIBITION 9th CROATIAN PRINTS TRIENNIAL

June 15th

11  a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

The theme of the last graphic workshop before closing of the exhibition is “A moment frozen in time”, a moment which we would like to experience again because it made an impression on us. There are countless joyful moments in our lives we can choose from, then carve into a zinc plate with a special needle, and then print with a graphic press.

Guest artist: Ivana Bajcer, mag.art.

We also organize workshops for kindergarteners and schoolers every working day except Monday! Previous registration is required at: artionica@gkd.hr

Workshops for adults are still held every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
