The exhibition „In the Beginning Was the Kingdom“ has gained a lot of attention from the Croatian public over the past four months. As the central event of marking the 1100th anniversary of the Croatian Kingdom, the exhibition, in addition to being a monumental display of Croatian cultural heritage, has also become a platform for discussing Croatian history and the role of history in shaping Croatian identity.
The intention of the author team to offer the interested public a comprehensive and contemporary view of Croatian history, based on recent scientific findings, has been widely accepted and positively evaluated. The overwhelmingly positive experience of the vast majority of visitors as well as the affirmative attitude of a significant part of the media cannot (and should not) hide the emergence of dissonant voices and criticism. The last in a series of lectures and forums organized during the exhibition at the Klovićevi dvori Gallery will once again bring together the author team with the aim of jointly reflecting on the process of creating the exhibition, the historiographic assumptions underlying it, and its reception in the public and media.
Open to all interested parties, the forum will – in the spirit of public history – be an opportunity for dialogue with the interested audience.
Participants will be the exhibition authors: art historian Dino Milinović, PhD and historians Tomislav Galović, PhD, and Trpimir Vedriš, PhD.
The forum will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 6 p.m., at the Klovićevi dvori lecture room.
