Exhibition PORTRAITS OF CROATIAN PHARMACISTS from the collection of the Croatian Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy, Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences [June 6-30, 2024]

THE ADMITTANCE TO THE EXHIBITION IS FREE OF CHARGE!

The exhibition PORTRAITS OF CROATIAN PHARMACISTS, organized by the Croatian Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy (part of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts) will be held in the foyer of the Klovićevi dvori Gallery from June 6 to June 30, 2024. The authors of the exhibition are Silvija Brkić Midžić and Stella Fatović-Ferenčić, PhD.

The exhibition will present eight portraits of Croatian pharmacists authored by pharmacist and collector-cum-amateur painter Hinko Brodjovin. These are portraits of the heads of the Croatian-Slavonian State Pharmacy Association, with Brodjovin’s self-portrait included.

The central exhibit is the “Portrait of the Pharmacist Hinko Brodjovin”, a painting by notable Croatian artist Milivoj Uzelac (1897 – 1977), a work as yet unknown to the general audience – in this exhibition, the Croatian Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy will exhibit it for the first time ever!

Aside from paintings, this exhibition will present one part of the rich heritage of Croatian pharmacy, which originates from the collection of the former Institute for the History of Pharmacy.

The Croatian Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy is the first, and thus far the only science museum operating within the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. It was founded in 2014 and began its work in March 2015.
